Original Release February 2014:
In just a few weeks, thousands of people will descend upon the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, when the Buffalo Home and Garden Show returns. For the fourth year in a row, Urban Valet Dry Cleaners will offer a free coat check service to guests and will donate any gratuities received to a local charity.
In 2011, organizers of the Buffalo Home & Garden Show realized that although the event was held in March, guests often had to travel through cold temperatures and wind to attend. Urban Valet was asked to partner with the show to provide a coat check service to guests. With the colder than normal winter we've had so far, Urban Valet is anticipating increased use of the service. “Sometimes we don't like the colder weather personally,” said Jackie O'Malley, Urban Valet Marketing Director. “However we are always busier at the show when it is colder, and therefore have more to donate to our chosen charity.”
This year, Urban Valet has chosen WNYHeroes as the recipient of their collected gratuities. "Urban Valet has a core commitment to returning generously ot the communities in which we do business and I cannot think of more worthwhile recipients than any of the many veterans organization in our area," said Urban Valet President Eric Pyne. "There is a lot of need in the veteran community given the reality of the last decade. Without question, businesses can play a part in mitigating some of the burdens carried by our veteran men and women. So this year we will again be donating coat check services to the home show and all of the monies collected will be donated to WNYHeroes." WNYHeroes was happy to hear of the upcoming support. “Without support from local companies such as Urban Valet, so many of these heroic families would not be able to make ends meet,” said Elaine Jarzynka, member of the WNY Heroes Board of Directors. “We thank Urban Valet for raising awareness of WNYHeroes through their annual coat check service at the Buffalo Home & Garden Show and their generous donation.”
Urban Valet has become known for their community giving as much as their quality cleaning. The company now provides free coat check services for many events throughout Western New York, including Ryan Miller's “Catwalk for Charity” event, and the Elmwood Village's “Mass Appeal” Fashion Show Fundraiser. Through these efforts, Urban Valet has donated thousands of dollars back to local charities and organizations over the years.
The mission of WNYHeroes is to provide veterans, members of the armed services, and the widows and children of deceased veterans with access to essential services, financial assistance and resources that support their lives and sustain their dignity. WNYHeroes provides veterans and their families with access to organizations supporting health and housing needs, while also offering family care services through simple-yet-essential gestures such as delivering food, holiday gifts and school supplies to veterans' children.
The 2014 Buffalo Home and Garden Show will run for two weekends from March 7-9th and March 14-16th at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Urban Valet's free coat check service will be available all day on weekends only this year. Show hours are from 10AM until 9PM Fridays and Saturdays, and 10AM until 6PM on Sundays.
